You can also use Online appointments for re-referrals and reviews

Online appointments aren’t just for first-time clients—they’re also available if you need a re-referral or a review. If you’ve completed your initial 6 psychology sessions, you’ll need a re-referral to access the additional 4 rebated sessions.

Unless otherwise specified by your GP, you can obtain this re-referral through an online consultation.

Your online GP will provide the necessary referral letter, allowing you to continue receiving Medicare rebates for your upcoming sessions.

A Mental Health Care Plan is a document created by your GP to outline your mental health concerns and the treatment you'll receive. It allows you to access Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions per year, making mental health support more affordable and accessible.

The plan includes the necessary referrals to see a psychologist or another mental health professional. To obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, you’ll need a valid Medicare card and an initial consultation with your GP.

This plan is a helpful way to ensure you get the support you need while reducing out-of-pocket costs.

Once you have your Mental Health Care Plan, you can book a session with a Walking Session psychologist. You can email your plan and referral letter at the time of your appointment or send it ahead of time.

After completing your initial six sessions, if additional support is needed, your psychologist will send a progress report to your GP. Your GP can then approve up to four more sessions with a new referral.

This process ensures you receive ongoing care based on your progress and needs.

A Mental Health Care Plan is essential for accessing Medicare rebates for psychology sessions in Australia. It allows you to receive affordable mental health support, covering up to 10 subsidized sessions per calendar year. The plan also helps your GP assess your mental health needs and create a tailored treatment plan, including counseling or other interventions.

Having a Mental Health Care Plan ensures that you can access the care you need while reducing your out-of-pocket expenses.

Here’s the cost breakdown for a Walking Session:

  • With a Mental Health Care Plan: $77.65 per session with a Registered or Clinical Psychologist.

  • Without a Mental Health Care Plan: $199 per session with a Registered or Clinical Psychologist.

Medicare rebates make essential mental health care more affordable and accessible for those who need it.

Each mental health journey is unique, but staying on top of your Mental Health Care Plan is key to ensuring continued access to Medicare rebates. Here’s a simplified breakdown of the process:

  1. Initial GP Assessment
Your GP will assess your mental health and create a Mental Health Care Plan that grants access to up to 6 psychology sessions.

  2. Receive Your Plan and Referral Letter
Once you have your plan, email it along with the referral letter to admin@walkingsession.com.au.

  3. Complete Your First 6 Sessions
After completing your sessions, your psychologist will send a progress report to your GP.

  4. Follow-Up GP Appointment
Book a follow-up appointment with your GP to request an additional 4 sessions based on your progress.

  5. Submit Review Documents
Email the review documents to admin@walkingsession.com.au to continue accessing your sessions.

By following these steps, you can ensure continued support through Medicare-rebated sessions.
